My microphone doesn’t work despite granting app permissions

If the microphone doesn’t work after granting permissions (see previous page), try these solutions for Android:

1. Google App

  • If not installed:
    • Go to Google Play, search for “Google,” and install the app.
    • Open the app and grant microphone permissions.
  • If installed:
    • Open the Google app, click your avatar (top right), and select Settings > Voice.
    • Under Language, select English (UK) or English (US).
    • Go to Offline Speech Recognition and ensure the selected language is installed.

2. Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Text-to-Speech Output.
  • Set Google Voice Services as the preferred engine.

3. Samsung Devices

  • Go to Settings > General Management > Text-to-Speech Output.
  • Set Google Voice Services as the preferred engine.
